Delete your Zaifi account
You can delete your Zaifi account, and everything in it, at any time. There are two ways.
In the app (the quickest)
- Open Zaifi and sign in.
- Go to Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Delete my account and data.
- Tap Continue, type DELETE, and tap Delete everything.
- Sign in once more to confirm it’s you: your password (or Google or Apple), then your two-step sign-in code.
Your account is deleted straight away, and you are signed out. If you haven’t finished setting up Zaifi, Delete my account is also on the setup screens themselves.
By email
Email support@zaifibooks.com from the email address on your Zaifi account and ask us to delete it. We’ll confirm it’s you, delete the account, and reply to tell you it’s done. This is the way to do it if you’ve lost the phone your sign-in code comes from.
What is deleted
- Your login, and your two-step sign-in methods (including any phone number)
- Every business you set up, and all of its records: transactions, invoices, bills, customers, receipts, documents and photos you saved, and reports
- Your tax profile and settings
- Your bank and card connections. We end them at Plaid, the service that connects your bank, so nothing is read from your bank again.
- Your connection to Stripe for card payments, if you set one up
- Household and accountant access: anyone you invited loses access, and invitations you sent are cancelled
Your plan
- Paid on the website or through Google Play: deleting your account cancels it. It runs to the end of the month you’ve already paid for, and you won’t be charged again.
- Paid through the App Store: Apple lets only you cancel it. Cancel it in your Apple subscriptions (on an iPhone or iPad: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions), or Apple will keep charging.
What we keep, and for how long
Deleting your account removes your data from Zaifi straight away. A few records are kept where the law requires it:
- Payment records. Our payment processor (Stripe), Apple and Google keep records of the payments you made for Zaifi, as financial and tax law requires, typically up to 7 years.
- Backups. Copies in our encrypted backups are removed as those backups expire, within 4 weeks.
If any part of a deletion can’t be completed at once (a service we rely on is briefly unreachable, say), we finish it by hand within 30 days, as our Privacy Policy commits.
Before you delete
Deleting cannot be undone, and we can’t recover anything afterwards. If you may need your records for a tax return, export them first from the Reports tab.
